How the Florida CRN pre-screen works

A Civil Remedy Notice (CRN) is part of a formal Florida insurance dispute process. This lawyer-review pre-screen is an initial intake step for a denied, delayed, underpaid, or partially denied property claim. A CRN pre-screen is not a filing, does not submit anything to the Florida Department of Financial Services, and does not extend a deadline. The right next step depends on current law, the policy, the claim history, and the facts of the loss.

We use the information you provide to identify the main issue—coverage, causation, valuation, claim handling, or missing documentation—and to determine whether a fuller review or consultation is appropriate. A pre-screen is not a promise that a CRN, lawsuit, or recovery is available.

What to gather before you submit

For a useful first look, provide what you have; you do not need to wait for a perfect file.

• The denial or partial-denial letter, payment explanation, reservation of rights, or other carrier position.
• The policy declarations and endorsements that apply to the date of loss, if available.
• Your claim number, insurer name, Florida county, date of loss, and a short timeline of what happened.
• Estimates, invoices, photographs, mitigation records, inspection reports, and important carrier communications.

Keep the summary factual and focused: explain what happened, what the carrier decided, what remains unpaid or unresolved, and whether a deadline or upcoming response is already on your calendar. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information.

What happens after you submit

After submission, the intake team reviews the information for fit and may contact you for context or additional documents. Depending on what the record shows, the next step may be the denial-letter upload, a broader consultation, or a more focused review of whether a CRN path fits the claim.
